In 2005, the federal government enacted a law
that requires all schools receiving federal funds to have educational programming on the U.S. Constitution
every year on Constitution Day, September 17th.
September 17th is designated as both Constitution Day and Citizenship Day to commemorate the signing of the U.S. Constitution on
September 17, 1787. Throughout the country, educational institutions offer programming during the week of September 17th to foster
dialogue and understanding about the Constitution and our government.
