Annual Significant Financial Interest Report (formerly COI Disclosure) Due
|
Case faculty members, whether they are involved in sponsored projects or not, as well as all non-faculty, investigators/key personnel on sponsored projects are required to submit annual Significant Financial Interest (SFI) reports for the Case COI Committee. E-mail notifications about the 2008 SFI reporting process should have been sent by now to all faculty members, including CCLCM faculty. School of Medicine full-time faculty at UHCMC, MHS and LSCVAMC can expect to receive a paper form enclosed with their reappointment letters, as in past years. In the future, the Case COI Committee plans to move toward online reporting for all faculty members and investigators.

DOD/CDMRP Deployment Related Medical Research Releases Program Announcements
|
The Fiscal Year 2008 (FY08) Defense Appropriations Act anticipates approximately $92 million to the Department of Defense Deployment Related Medical Research Program (DRMRP) to provide support for deployment health-related research of clear scientific merit. This program is administered by the U.S. Army Medical Research and Materiel Command through the Office of the Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs (CDMRP). A summary of DRMRP funding opportunities is provided below. Detailed descriptions of each of the funding mechanisms, evaluation criteria, and submission requirements can be found in the FY08 DRMRP Program Announcements. Each Program Announcement is available electronically for downloading from the Grants.gov website (), the CDMRP website () and the CDMRP eReceipt Website ().
The FY08 topic areas addressed by this program announcement are listed below.
Blood safety and blood products
Final development of medical devices for use in-theater, including portable suction machines and EKGs for theater hospitals
Injury prevention
Traumatic brain injury and psychological health, including post-traumatic stress disorder
Trauma treatment and rehabilitation, including nonsurgical orthopedic conditions
Wound infection and healing
Wound infection vaccines

OHIO AIR QUALITY DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY
|
A Request for Proposals released by the Ohio Air Quality Development Authority for professional services to assist in implementation of the non-coal component of the Advanced Energy program of the bipartisan economic stimulus package.
Please note: the RFP has a very short response time; proposals are due by 5:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 3. This aggressive timeline is driven by the need to have the program functioning and operating effectively before the end of this calendar year. 2009-10 Fulbright Scholar Award Opportunities Still Available
|
Please note that applications continue to be accepted for some Fulbright Scholar awards for lecturing, research or combined lecturing/research awards in various academic fields during the 2009-2010 academic year.
Faculty may apply not only for awards specifically in their field, but also for one of the many "All Discipline" awards open to any field. Visit the website at www.cies.org for descriptions of available awards and new eligibility requirements. Awards are closing daily, so please consult the relevant program officer before applying.

New Grants for Gambling Research
|
The Institute for Research on Pathological Gambling and Related Disorders is pleased to announce the availability of two new Requests for Applications:
Grants for Public Health Research on Gambling Disorders
The purpose of this award is to support research in the social and behavioral sciences, epidemiology, public health and related fields that will lead to improved prevention and interventions for disordered gambling. Applicants may request up to $75,000 in direct costs per year for a two-year period. Letters of intent are due on October 1, 2008.
Incentive Grants for New Investigators
The purpose of this award is to encourage new investigators to enter the field of gambling studies by providing seed funds for research on gambling and gambling-related problems. Investigators who have a terminal degree (e.g., Ph.D., M.D., M.P.H., J.D.) and no more than 10 years of postgraduate research training experience at the time of the application receipt date (November 3, 2008) are eligible to apply for an Incentive Grant.
