NSF/DOE Partnership in Basic Plasma Science and Engineering

The goal of this three year (FY09-FY11) program initiative is to enhance plasma research and education in this broad, multidisciplinary field by coordinating efforts and combining resources of the two agencies. Hazardous Materials Worker Health and Safety Training (U45)

This FOA issued by the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) invites applications for cooperative agreements to support the development of model programs for the training and education of workers engaged in activities related to hazardous materials and waste generation, removal, containment, transportation and emergency response. NSF Particle and Nuclear Astrophysics

The particle and nuclear astrophysics program supports university research in many areas of particle astrophysics and nuclear astrophysics, including the study of ultra high energy particles reaching Earth from beyond our atmosphere and experiments or research and design projects for underground facilities.Currently supported activities are: ultra high energy cosmic-ray, gamma-ray and neutrino studies, the study of gamma-ray bursts, solar, underground and reactor neutrino physics, searches for the direct detection of Dark Matter and searches for neutrino-less double beta decay.Funding is also provided for accelerator-based nuclear astrophysics studies of stellar processes, nucleosynthesis, and processes related to cosmology and the early universe. NIH Centers for Membrane Protein Structure Determination (U54)

This FOA solicits applications to establish Centers for Membrane Protein Structure Determination that will become a vital component in fulfilling the expanded goals of the NIGMS PSI:Biology network for high-throughput-enabled structural biology. NASA’s Office of Education Accepting Proposals for K-12 Cooperative Agreements Notice

The NASA Office of Education has released a Cooperative Agreement Notice for proposals for NASA K-12 Cooperative Agreements Notice (K-12 CAN). The K-12 CAN effort seeks proposals that incorporate innovative approaches for development and delivery of instructional materials, creates experiences that capture the interest of learners, and actively involves participants in relevant, NASA science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, or STEM, content applications. Hubble Multi-Cycle Treasury Programs Call for Proposals

NASA and The Space Telescope Science Institute (STScI) are pleased to announce the Multi-Cycle Treasury Programs Call for Proposals for Hubble Space Telescope (HST) Observations. Participation in this program is open to all categories of organizations, both domestic and foreign, including educational institutions, profit and nonprofit organizations, NASA Centers, and other Government agencies. This solicitation for proposals will be open through November 18, 2009, 5:00 pm EST. The Astronomer's Proposal Tools (APT) version 17.4.3, which is required for Phase I Proposal Submission, has been released. Results of the selection will be announced in late January 2010, 6-7 weeks before the Cycle 18 Phase I Deadline. National Endowment for the Humanities - Collaborative Research

Collaborative Research Grants support original research undertaken by a team of two or more scholars or research coordinated by an individual scholar that, because of its scope or complexity, requires additional staff and resources beyond the individual’s salary. Eligible projects include: research that significantly adds to knowledge and understanding in the humanities; conferences on topics of major importance in the humanities that will benefit ongoing research; archaeological projects that include the interpretation and communication of results (projects may encompass excavation, materials analysis, laboratory work, field reports, and preparation of interpretive monographs); and research that uses the knowledge, methods, and perspectives of the humanities to enhance understanding of science, technology, medicine, and the social sciences. DOT/Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration - ON BOARD MONITORING SYSTEM

Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s (FMCSA) mission is to reduce the number and severity of crashes on our Nation’s Highways. The objective of the On-board Monitoring System (OBMS) is to determine whether on-board monitoring devices will reduce at-risk behavior among commercial drivers and improve driver safety performance.
