How to Earn Continuing CREC Online (Recertification)
Current Case CREC Program members must earn 12 credits every three years to maintain
CREC certification.
CITI Program Options
The Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) Program, to which Case subscribes, provides the initial core training for the CREC Program. In addition, they offer online courses that can be taken for continuing credits. CREC Program participants may take any of these training options once per 3-year cycle.
Please be aware that Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) training is NOT valid for CREC.
Print this recertification instruction sheet, then enter the CITI site by clicking on the link below. Passing the course with a cumulative score of 85% is required for each option in order to earn CREC.
- CITI Basic (8 credits)
Since CITI updates their modules with the most current information available, those who wish to take the course to earn continuing credits for recertification may do so once per 3-year cycle.
- CITI Refresher (6 credits)
This is a more appropriate course for experienced researchers and requires less time to complete.
- Good Clinical Practices (GCP) (6 credits)
This course covers not only human subjects research, but also recordkeeping and other GCP topics.
Local Online Options
-
Research Regulator (1 CREC per issue)
This is a quarterly newsletter produced by the Office of Research Compliance designed to disseminate to our community the most current and important information regarding the protection of human subjects in research. Each issue includes a one-credit CREC quiz, which can be completed online. If an investigator reads Research Regulator and completes the quiz on a quarterly basis, he or she will earn the required credits to become automatically recertified every three years.

-
CREC Video Seminars and Quizzes* (4 CREC per Seminar)
This option allows you to view some of our past CREC seminars and take an online quiz for credit.
Video Research Seminar Series Page
*The video seminars may be used only one time for continuing CREC. If any of these training courses were taken previously, credit will not be given again for repeating this option.
