| Michael Haag is the Director for Biomedical Licensing at CWRU.
In this capacity, Michael oversees the licensing function at CWRU which has averaged greater than 30 transactions annually since 2005.
Michael is passionate about start-ups and new venture formation. In his time at CWRU he has been directly involved in the creation of 13 start-up
companies and is currently an active board member for CardioInsight. Michael is currently the acting CEO of RexiGen, a company created to
commercialize small molecule therapeutics emanating from the CWRU School of Medicine. Michael is dedicated to the education of CWRU faculty, staff,
and students in matters of intellectual property and translational research. In this capacity, Michael is a member of CWRU’s Conflict of Interest Committee,
the School of Medicine High Throughput Screening Program, and has guest lectured several courses on entrepreneurship and intellectual property for both the
School of Engineering and the School of Business.
Prior to joining CWRU’s Tech Transfer Office in 2002, Michael was previously employed at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation where he was a Biotechnology Analyst for the Innovations office.
He began at the Cleveland Clinic as a Research Assistant working in Molecular Biology in the field of Cytokines and Signal Transduction with Dr. George Stark.
Michael holds an M.S. in biology from CWRU, an M.B.A. from the University of Phoenix, and a B.S. in biology and chemistry from John Carroll University. He is a member of the American Chemical Society, the Licensing Executives Society and the Association of University Technology Managers.
