Case Western Reserve University Ranks In Top Ten For Technology Transfer Success
A survey conducted by the Association of University Technology Managers (AUTM)
reveals that Case is a national leader for many key indicators amonng universities
with $275 million or less in research funding (its peer institutions at the time
the data were collected). The survey covers July 1, 2004, to June 30, 2005, the
latest period for which data are available. In the United States, Case ranks:
• Number 4 in university-based start-up companies
• Number 6 in gross licensing income
• Number 6 in invention disclosures received
• Number 8 in cumulative licenses executed
Case also ranks in the top 15 nationally:
• Number 11 in executed licenses
• Number 14 in licensing revenue as a percentage of research funding
Specific to Ohio colleges and universities participating in the survey, Case ranks:
• Number one in start-ups
• Number one in gross licensing revenue
• Number one in cumulative licenses executed
• Number one in executed licenses
In just five years, the Case TTO has joined the ranks of the top technology transfer
operations in the U.S., both in terms of quantitative results and in terms of adopting
and developing best practices. Over the last three years, Case has collected $29.4 million in licensing revenues - almost more than all other institutions in Ohio combined. To find out more about the impact of the TTO, you can
